When you think of a cowboy alone on the range.  Wishing to sooth and calm his cattle, he will naturally sing a lament to a love lost.  Red River Valley is a classic cowboy lament.  The free MP3 is sung by a woman but you can be sure that this is a lonely man’s song.  Cowboy’s never cry, but if they did, this song would have every man crying “alligator tears”.

I was surprised to find that this is a Canadian song.  I often forget that, per capita, there are more country music fans in Canada than anywhere else on earth.  There is actually a place in Canada called Red River Valley.  Check the info at Wikipedia for more about that.
