The Wizard of OZ is a familiar film classic the world over. The theme song and Judy Garland’s “signature” song is Over the Rainbow. This is a rather simple song which any age can enjoy. A beginner English student will find it enjoyable and useful in some of the phrases he will learn. I have posted three MP3 links. The classic one from the film. My favorite version by Ray Stevens (better range for guys to sing to) and a free version from an old Glenn Miller recording. I chose this as a favor for Merve our Turkish translator who has done more translations than anyone else.
Remember to only listen to the song a couple of times before attending a class (see below) where we would check your pronunciation before you memorize the song. By identifying the words you have trouble with you can then focus on them particularly during rehearsal. And REMEMBER to sing out loud, this is a skill with your mouth, not a mental exercise.
Also remember, this should be fun!
